Corvette ZR1 - Still Cliché?
There’s been a lot of buzz lately on the latest Corvette. The whole summer was focused on the GTR, we sort of forgot about everyone else in the game. The release of the latest C6 Z06, there were a lot of worried faces concerned about the impact of the removal of the infamous flip-up lights. As young kids we always imagined having one of those classical Corvettes with the flip-up and classical Corvette-appeal. As the masses slowly began loving the latest breed, there were questions as to whether there would be an SVT (Mustang Cobra) competitor in the works.
Chevrolet has finally begun taking orders for the all-new Corvette ZR1. But you’ll have to wait in line because according to their website there’s “very limited availability beginning late summer 2008″.
The Motor
The LS9 supercharged V8 can hit a top speed of 205 mph producing a whopping 638 horsepower. The 6.2Liter V8 mated with an Eaton TVS supercharger and intercooler produces 604 lb-ft of torque. With huge Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, you can be sure that you’ll have enough stopping power once you reach 205 mph.
Appeal
The car has been carefully wrapped wit carbon fiber from the hood all the way to the roof. The use of carbon fiber substantially reduce the weight of the car. Dropped on 19 inch wheels in the front and 20 inch in the back, stuck to Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, you can be sure that you’ll stick to the road and impress innocent bystanders.
