BMW 7-series ActiveHybrid - Watch out Lexus LS600h
Set to debut at the Paris Motor show with details being released a little early is BMW’s Hybrid 7-series. At first look, it seems like a simple 750i with new wheels and a bunch of stickers. But once you have a look at the latest technologies they’ve developed, you’ll soon realize that the manufacturer is jumping into the next generation of BMWs.
Motor
The new ActiveHybrid is not your traditional Hybrid where the electric motor simply kicks in at speeds below 40mph. Like the Toyota Prius, it also makes use of the energy generated from the brakes to power all the bells and whistles that are oh so common on Bimmers. The battery for all this is a high-powered lithium-ion battery that is integrated into the rear trunk.
The motor itself is the same power plant that comes with the 750i. Producing a good 400 horsepower made possible by it’s twin turbochargers and high-precision injection, the hybrid has approximately 40 more horses than the regular gas-engine.
It looks very similar to the current 750i, except for the new wheels. This car is sure to be a contender for the Lexus LS600h (but what about the automatic parking?). Hybrid or not, it still gives you the Ultimate Driving Experience.
